Texas

License to Carry (LTC) Course


The Compound Nevada offers a LTC Course presented by professional and knowledgeable Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) certified instructors.  This is a 6-hour course of instruction as mandated by the Texas DPS.  Courses are offered the 4th Saturday of every month from 9:00 a- 3:00 pm.

                                    Cost: $93.00

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AND PREPAY FOR THE LTC COURSE.

WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

    The four topics that will be covered in your LTC Course:

  • Laws that Relate to Weapons & Use of Deadly Force

  • Handgun Use & Safety

  • Non-Violent Dispute Resolution

  • Proper Storage Practices

    You must bring the following items with you to the LTC Course:

  • TX Driver’s License or Texas Identification Card

  • Handgun of your choice (Rentals available at $25.00, if needed)

  • 50 rounds of ammunition (Ammunition available for purchase, if needed)

  • Ear and Eye Protection (Available for purchase, if needed)

NOTICE:

THIS IS NOT A FIREARMS TRAINING COURSE AND DOES NOT PROVIDE SHOOTING INSTRUCTION.  YOU MUST BE PROFICIENT WITH A FIREARM PRIOR TO TAKING THE LTC COURSE AND ATTEMPTING COMPLETION OF THE LTC PROFICIENCY QUALIFICATION. 

THE LTC-100 WILL ONLY BE ISSUED UPON THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF BOTH THE LTC CLASSROOM PORTION AND THE LTC PROFICIENCY QUALIFICATION.

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS YOU WILL BE PROVIDED ONE OPPORTUNITY TO RESCHEDULE IF YOU CAN'T ATTEND THE LTC COURSE THAT YOU REGISTERED FOR.

Four easy steps to obtain your Texas LTC


1) Apply for your Texas LTC license online at https://www.texas.gov.

2) Upon completion of the Texas LTC license application, you may be directed to the Identogo website at https://uenroll.identogo.com.  Enter the Identogo code (119Q91) and schedule your fingerprinting appointment.  You may complete the aforementioned actions before taking the LTC Course.


3) Attend the LTC Course and successfully pass the written examination (70% - 18/25) and the LTC Proficiency Qualification (70% - 175/250).

4) Upon successful completion of the LTC Proficiency Qualification you will submit your LTC-100 online via the Texas Department of Public Safety – Handgun Licensing website:

Contingent upon the Texas Department of Public Safety processing time, you should receive your LTC within 3 – 4 weeks.
