To develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS, and ATTITUDE essential to organizing, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Details: The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. This course is at least nine (9) hours and includes classroom learning that teaches the basic duties a Range Safety Officer performs. It provides a thorough introduction to the role of Range Safety Officers (RSOs); range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range safety briefings; range inspections and rules; emergency procedures; and how to clear firearm stoppages and correct malfunctions. The skills acquired in this course require regular practice which should initially take place under the supervision of a qualified individual – such as an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO). Students will receive the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program Brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules Card, and an Instructor Application Course Evaluation Form.
There is no Required Equipment.
- A student must not have been convicted of any felony or family violence offense.
- A student must not have any felony or family violence charges pending.
- Students must be legally eligible to possess and transport a firearm.
